  • Briefing Notes This page contains SWO Briefing Notes on a variety of topics: from analysis of specific data releases to Open Data and Localism Briefings. These briefing notes are put together by SWO for those working in policy and research, but may have wider appeal for those interested in different policy areas. For the last briefings, including ones on the Environment White Paper, Public Sector Reform, plus Commnuity Budgets and the Legacy of Total Place see the briefing notes section.

  • Data Releases Keep up-to-date on the latest data announcements and releases via this section of our site. Here you'll find signposted information on national, regional and local sources along with thematic / geographic-specific briefings providing some context and analysis to the data release.
  • Data Visualisation This page provides information on data presentation and visualisation techniques, with advice on graphics for effective data presentation, visualising spatial data on thematic maps as well as presenting data and key messages.   • Data Tools Here you'll find links to various data tools, relating to different themes - such as population or equality and diversity. As updates are made available and new tools are developed, we'll make them accessible via this section of our site.
  • New Geographies This web page shows maps for some of the new geographies national government departments and agencies are now working to. Includes maps for the Cabinet Office Regional Researchers, Homes and Communities Agency, Department for Business Innovation and Skills (tbc) and Environment Agency (tbc).
  • Open Data This section provides information on Open Data. Open/transparent data are key themes behind the Government's drive to create a more accountable public sector, and support economic growth through innovation.
